A facilitated discussion about the Southeast Kansas region’s education and workforce needs will take place Wednesday, March 5th from 9:00 AM to noon at Chanute First Baptist Church (118 N. Forest.)
The meeting is designed to bring K-12, post-secondary, and higher education educators and administrators together with the business and economic development community to discuss both current and future regional workforce needs. The Project 17 Education/Workforce Work Group identified this meeting as the necessary next step to increase regional stakeholder dialogue about what skills the workforce needs to help our businesses prosper, and to also provide the opportunity for the education community to share what they are doing to address workforce issues.
The meeting will provide opportunities for discussion and brainstorming about collaboration opportunities, what could strengthen our current systems, and how to begin preparing for the workforce challenges on the horizon as many in the current workforce near retirement.
We encourage EVERYONE involved with Project 17 to attend this meeting. A Project 17 update will also be provided and recognition will be given to the original Senatorial appointees from the different work group topics as Project 17 formally resets its structure moving forward.
Also held on the 5th at Chanute First Baptist will be the inaugural Project 17 Core Group appointments that will officially be underway with orientation held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
